Back to Blogging and Becoming a Green Goblin...

Well...I'm back. You didn't miss much. Over the past few weeks, the pain-in-the-assness of taking care of a house all by myself for the first time caught up with me. I went from making myself lovely homemade meals daily to living on Diet Mountain Dew, Twizzlers, Q'doba, and Bread Co. It was a sad state of affairs...but now I'm back and trying something new.

I plan on selling the house to move into a condo. Yikes! Its hard enough keeping the house clean enough for myself to live in it, and now I'm going to have other people walk around in it while I'm not even home?! I don't know how any of you who have sold a house before did it. Anyway, I enlisted a little help with the food part so I don't have a dirty kitchen every day. This week I'm doing an experiment to see if I like it.

There is a company called Gobble Green that prepares vegan meals and delivers them right to your house. This sounded perfect while I got my house ready to sell. So I ordered a weeklong trial...3 weeks ago. The delivery was ridiculously slow, due to the holiday and me not knowing how this whole thing works. Customer service was good though - I emailed to make sure I was still getting my food, and they apologized and threw in a free t-shirt. I like free t-shirts :) So anyway, after waiting and eating junk (not wanting to stock the pantry in case the food showed up), I got my delivery last night.

This is Queso checking the package to make sure that there were no poisons or bombs inside...

This is my vacuumed-packed t-shirt. Its kind of cute, right? Did I mention I love free t-shirts??
The rest of the pictures are of all my food - enough for 3 meals a day plus snacks for a whole week - vacuumed packed and ready to eat. Looking at the food packaged, it looks like really small portions, which worries me a little. The instructions say to add more fruits and veggies if the food isn't enough...hmmm...I thought that's why I was paying the big bucks to get this food - so I wouldn't have to buy and cook anything else. Maybe it will expand when I open the packages?

Mmm...cookies...

So, this week I will try out the food to see if it actually tastes any good, and see if this is what I would like to order to use while my house is on the market. I've posted pictures of my kitchen after I cook, so it is obvious that this would be helpful.
I'm going to judge it on 1) tastiness, 2) nutritional balance (what can I say - I'm an RD), 3) satiety (whether I get full enough eating the food), 4) value for the money... We shall see what happens. Stay tuned...
