Day one of Gobble Green Eating. This is supposed to be a breakfast bar. I admit it didn't look very good. Plus its only, like 250 calories which isn't much for a breakfast. After another scuffle with Jillian Michaels (I am doing one of her videos, because its a good work out and does not require me to run out in the heat), I dug right in. It was actually pretty good for a basic breakfast bar. It had a little bit of coconut flavor to it, and was surprisingly filling...
Round 2: Falafels with Basmati Rice. This did not look promising from the packaging. A block of white crud, and some brown balls...hehe...weird.
Putting it on the plate didn't help....
Then I figured out that I needed to "fluff" the rice. Now it looks like a good size portion and very appetizing...
Falafels were AWESOME! I'm still not quite sure what a falafel is....I think the main ingredient is chick peas. But they were very delicious. It did not taste like frozen packaged food. Tasted like they had just been made.
I was actually excited about the "meat" loaf. To me it looked like a good size portion and it looked pretty good. And then I ate it...not good. I'm not sure what to compare the flavor to, but it was just not good. The texture was good - I would bet that meat-eaters might not even know that it wasn't meat. It could have just been me, but did not like this. Left a few bites (but was still filled up).
The night ended with a massive and delicious looking chocolate chip cookie. There is no picture of that because I ate it before I had a chance....oops. Yeah, it was REALLY good.

Breakdown for day 1:
2 really good meals and a great dessert. One repulsive meat loaf.
Calorie total was around 1470, and all the other nutrients were right on.
I was never hungry or feeling like I didn't get enough to eat.
Nothing tasted like mass-produced frozen food.

Falafel is pretty much fried chickpeas and spices - delicious isn't it??? There are lots of good foods out there that just happen to be vegan - you'll discover that the more you continue on this path. Good luck!
